Yesterday was another beautiful day. I thought it would be fun to take my boys and the 11 year old neighbor boy, Bradley, on a walk through the nearby woods. (Dave is out of town again. Is that the story of my life?) Here are some pictures, though they don't really do the surroundings justice.

Now let me tell you about the real fun part. I was pushing Mason in a stroller and the boys were messing around along the way, running a little ways up ahead and such. After we had reached our destination and spent some time at a lookout over the marsh, we started to head back. Bradley asked me if he could run ahead. "Sure" I said, thinking he was just talking about what they had been doing all along and staying within sight. But that's not what Bradley had in mind. Oh no no no no no no no! After a few minutes passed we turned the bend and I couldn't see Bradley. I knew this was no good. Luckily we both had our cell phones so I called him. "Bradley, where are you at?" "I have NO idea. I'm near some trees and stuff." Well, I could go into details about what happened next, but I will spare you. In short, Bradley ended up taking all sorts of different trails and heading in all the wrong directions. He couldn't figure out up from down. At one point I told him to scream "Isaac" and we couln't even hear him. Not one bit. That made me a little nervous. Wouldn't ya think? So after half an hour of trying to meet up on the trail and find the right one he was on, and also a few prayers suggested by Isaac, we found the little bugger. Isaac and Ethan were so relieved. I think all the boys learned a good lesson that I hope they always remember. And I think I learned a lesson or two too. I'm just so glad Bradley and I both had our cell phones- or we would have been in deep doo-doo. I'm also so glad we were able to find him and get out before the gates locked us in, or before something worse happened.
Today in passing Isaac said, "Hey Mom, that hike was so fun yesterday." "Even though we lost Bradley?" "Yeah, it was so fun being a scout and trying to find him!" It's nice Isaac thought it was a great time. Yet I'm sure Bradley wouldn't agree. Or his mother.

Well, I am glad you found Bradley! I am sure his mom is happy too. :)
Oh man! I've had a scare or two with my own kids. I'm not sure which is worse, your own or someone elses! Glad you found him. Seems like I haven't seen you forever! Hopefully I'll see you soon!
I think I would have died. A few weeks ago I was in Target when a little boy was lost and I was totally crying for that mother.
Good thing an alligator did not find him first. :)
11 year olds are notorious for wandering off...and scaring you to death ! What a bugger indeed !!!
