Embarassing moment

It seems that whenever we go to the library we always experience an embarrassing moment of some sort. Whether it be tantrums on the floor, spilling/dropping armloads of books, knocking over displays, losing a child, or trying to get running slap-happy kids to calm down, we're always causing some sort of scene. Once I was even told to leave the library but that's another story in and of itself! But nevertheless we love the library so embarassing moments don't hold us back. (Once a man, who apparently also commons the library, walked by when we were standing in line and looking at Mason piped out, "Hey! He's actually calm today!" So we even have a reputation there!)

Well, the other day we were once again at the library and I asked a librarian to show us where books on hummingbirds were. (We'd seen hummingbirds around our house so we bought a feeder and were looking forward to watching and learning about them). The librarian kindly said she would show us where the books were located. We followed her to the aisle and she began picking out books when all of a sudden "brrrrrfff!" Ethan farted! And a loud stinky one at that! Ethan and Isaac began to giggle. I didn't know what I should say or do so I just told Ethan to excuse himself and told the poor librarian "sorry." How humiliating- for me anyhow, because it didn't phase little E at all. God bless little children for keeping things real.

Just to end this library visit on a good note, when we finally got to the check out we were denied checking out anything due to fines and it was 6pm and they'd already shut down the register. So I am also grateful for the internet and it's vast amount of knowledge on anything and everything, including hummingbirds.

Sounds so familiar to my life:)Seems like you handled the situation perfectly. My embarrassing moments mainly happen at church these days. Oh boy(s)!

Jeff and I stopped by the grocery store last night (to get greens for the lizards), and he asked me as we were leaving, "how do you take them anywhere?" Sometimes, I just don't know either.

I have been missing you tons lately, April. I am glad I can still catch up on your life, but it's not the same as hanging out, being embarrassed by our kids, together.

Now I want to know the story about how YOU got kicked out of the library!

So funny...good for you taking the kids to the library in spite of the issues/incidents/embarassments that occur !

By the way, I'm with Becka...
I want to hear the "kick out" story too !

Ethan, you're doing your Uncle proud! There's no shame in a well-timed and beefy blast of the bum-trumpet-- especially if it's a little guy. That's nothing but cause for celebration and laughs.

Oh my goodness! That's hilarious!!! You need to tell the story about when you were asked to leave! I remember you telling me about that one and it was a good one!
