One in a billion?

So lately we have been spending some time down at the river skipping shells and throwing the few rocks we can find (rocks are very hard to come by in FL). Well Dave just so happened to find a rock and was going to chuck it as far as he could (what a stud) and had gotten the whole family's attention. So he hucks the rock out into the river as far as he can and when it hits the water and we see the splash, we also see a snake writhe into the air! And then to let us know that what we just witnessed really had happened the snake writhed out of the water once again (and then probably sank to its unfortunate death). What are the chances of that?! Now this river isn't a small river like out West. It is huge! Especially since we were at the mouth of it where it goes out to the ocean. So for Dave to throw a rock out there and hit the exact spot where that snake was swimming is just, well, unbelievable. We tried to figure what the chances of that happening were and figured it was probably less than one in a million. Maybe one in a billion? I don't expect that to ever happen again in my lifetime. Poor snakey.

Here is a picture of the river. It shows only about half of the width of the river or less. It was taken at a different time. Those dark spots poking out of the
water are dolphin fins. Oh, and the house on the far right is ours (in my dreams!).
